About Us @ Hillwalking.org.uk

Hillwalking.org.uk started life back in 1997 as "The Mountaineering and Recreation Information Pages" - a rather grand name for not a lot of pages! Originally "developed" in MS Word 95, it subsequently went on to becoming lovingly hand crafted in HTML and at the same time got the domain "hillwalking.org.uk". Times change and the student in his first job, became the IT Manager (not the country side ranger he wanted to be) and the site has languished a bit with a few up dates throughout the year.

But the link requests kept coming and so have the requests for more content - as a result the site has been redeveloped with a more up to date look and feel - with the key aim of making it easier for me to maintain! After all, it was the reason why the site stopped getting developed because of the effort it took to maintain it. The site is now developed using Adobe Dreamweaver and hosted on a grand sounding Adobe Coldfusion server.

The advertising and affiliate marketing around the site is unavoidable, there are costs in time, effort and hosting on my part, so if through the links the site pays for itself all well and good. I hope though, by linking to meaningful affiliates and spotting the odd bargain along the way that its of help to you too!

Also should you have any queries relating to the site, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes,

Alastair
