National Bodies and Associations

The John Muir Trust: Named after the Scots born environmentalist and founder of the first National Parks in the USA, the Trust purchases some of the most scenic land throughout Scotland for the benefit of all.  

The Mountain Bothies Association: The MBA, is an organisation that cares for the up keep of many mountain huts (bothies) in Scotland and other parts of upland Britain.

The Norwest Sgurramblers: are a group of mountain walking enthusiasts with membership throughout the U.K., who have regular meets to the highlands and islands of scotland during the whole year

North East Mountain Trust: is the environmental body representing mountaineering, climbing and walking clubs in the North East of Scotland. Their interests are both recreational and conservation.

The Ramblers Association:  Campaigning body protecting the rights of walkers throughout the UK.

Scottish Natural Heritage: A governmental organisation tasked with the protection of the environment in Scotland.
